Bike Lanes On Pillette Rd. Approved

Pillette Rd will soon get bike lanes between South National St. to Tecumseh Rd.

To many residents' dismay, parking will be restricted to one side of the street. Many neighbours spoke out against the bike lanes saying the street is too busy to be safe for cyclists.

But Amanda Orr with Bike Windsor Essex says bike lanes create a safe environment for everyone.

"Bike lanes are a specific area designated for cyclists. It's delineated on the road and so it's a great visual for cars, it's a line they can see, it tells bicycles where to go," says Orr.

The painted lines and signage along Pillette Rd. will cost approximately $25,000.  The project was approved at Monday's council meeting.
