After hours discussing the issue, Windsor City Council will not impose any restrictions on home builders regarding "snout houses" or "thrust garages."
A committee of council requested a review of city bylaws regarding home design after a council question by Councillor Chris Holt. At a meeting Monday night, Holt says he posed the question because he wanted to set out guidelines that would be in place for all home builders.
City planners and the Windsor police have voiced concerns about the design of this style of home leading to increased crime and less social neighbourhoods on a number of occasions.
However, a councilors voted against moving forward with any kind of review because no empirical data was included in the report by City of Windsor administration. The report was noted and filed.
