Rendezvous Celebrating Canada150

The Maidstone and Area Historical Society, Fort Malden and the Town of Amherstburg are partnering to host a rendezvous this fall.

The rendezvous is based on the historical meetings of the fur traders and voyageurs who were in the area.

"It's a very important part of Canadian history that helped form Canada so it's a perfect time to celebrate and look at that part of our history," says Victoria Beaulieu, president of the Maidstone and Area Historical Society.

She says they have many special speakers and re-enactors scheduled for the weekend event.

"There's going to be a number of different camps set up with demonstration of weaving and beading and tanning and different things," says Beaulieu.

The event is made possible through a WindsorEssex Community Foundation Canada150 grant. It will be held at Ford Malden September 29 until October 1. There is no charge to attend the rendezvous .
