The Corn Festival Committee wants everyone to know it is not going anywhere and it is already hard at work on August's event.
After the Shores of Erie Festival was cancelled for the past two years, and talk about whether the Town of Tecumseh should continue its involvement, Chair David Lozinsky wanted to reassure residents this year's festival is full steam ahead.
"The message there was that, yes, the town is 100% supportive of the Corn Festival," he says. "In regards to, you know, [Shores of Erie] or other festivals that have had difficulties; that's not the case of the Tecumseh Corn Festival. It's business as usual."
This year, the festival celebrates 42 years in Tecumseh. Bonduelle returns as the major sponsor, but Lozinsky says they are still looking for both sponsors and volunteers.
Anyone interested in sponsoring the event, volunteering, or applying for the Miss Tecumseh Corn Festival Pageant can get information online.
Attendance last year took a hit because of inclement weather, but Lozinsky is confident the numbers will bounce back.
"Every year we get between 32,000 and 40,000," says Lozinsky.
He also anticipates announcing what acts will perform at this year's festival in the coming weeks.
