His body was found at Tremblay Beach Conservation Area Monday night.
The investigation into the circumstances of his death continues under the direction of the Coroner's Office. Foul play is not suspected.
Bilodeau was a member of the Essex County OPP for the last ten years.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
