Organizers of an upcoming male fashion show revealed their models at an event Thursday.
A media preview for the second annual Celebrity Men Fashion Event was held at the Water's Edge Event Centre in Windsor. The ten models for the May 26 event were announced.
The benefit is a fundraiser for the Kidney Foundation of Canada Windsor and District Chapter. Fund development officer Erika Muscat says the models are known throughout the community and they were more than happy to come aboard.
"We really just brainstormed and we just started asking people, and these ten wonderful men agreed," says Muscat. "They're giving very freely of their time to help us out and raise money for the Kidney Foundation."
The models include local businessmen, members of the medical profession, and even a mixed-martial arts competitor. 19-year-old T.J. Laramie, an MMA featherweight, is among the participants revealed.
Muscat is hoping to expand on the success of last year's event.
"The first one was very successful. We raised over $19,000, our goal this year is $24,000," says Muscat. "We had over 200 people in attendance and they all had a wonderful time."
Other local men participating in the fashion show are Shawn Talbot, executive director of the Windsor Comedy Festival; Windsor kidney specialist Dr. Wayne Callaghan; local dentist Dr. David Mady and BetterMade Cabinets proprietor Vern Myslichuk.
The Windsor event is one of four planned throughout Ontario this year. Fashion shows are also set for Sarnia, Waterloo and London.
The fashion show will be held at Water's Edge May 26th, hosted by Michelle Mainwaring and COOL-FM radio host Colin Botten. It will begin with cocktails at 6:30pm with the show at 8pm. Tickets are $60 for general seating and VIP tickets are $75.
