The University of Windsor is teaching its faculty and staff what to do in the event that they hear about incidents of sexual violence.
It'll be running a three-hour workshop, using the framework of "recognize, respond, refer," which aims to have participants feeling more prepared, but not pressured to be experts.
The school says professors and coaches are often the first to hear about these circumstances from students or those that they mentor.
"I spoke to a broad range of faculty and staff in order to ensure we were meeting the needs of the campus, and people almost across the board reported feeling unsure of what to do if a survivor shared their story," says Project coordinator Caiti Casey.
Casey adds that the project follows the implementation of the university's standalone Sexual Misconduct Policy, and the development of the Sexual Misconduct Response and Prevention Office.
