Police Chase Leads To Arrest And CAS Call

A 26-year-old Windsor man is facing multiple charges after a wild police chase through the streets of Amherstburg.

The Amherstburg Police Service says it got word from the OPP in Leamington, Monday morning, about a stolen vehicle and possible child abduction.

The suspected vehicle was then spotted around 11:20am, travelling north on Sandwich St. S near Lowes Side Rd.

The black Chrysler Concord failed to stop for officers and started weaving erratically up Sandwich St. S, evading several attempts to block the roadway by Amherstburg police cruisers.

When the car reached Alma St., it left the road to again avoid police vehicles, but ended up smashing into parked cars.

It then headed east on Alma St. before eventually coming to a stop on Fort St.

The driver was immediately arrested and Children's Aid Society was contacted, as a 9-month-old child was found in the back seat of the Concord.
