The new amphitheatre in Seacliff Park in Leamington will cost a lot more than town council had anticipated, but Mayor John Paterson says it will be worth it.
Originally, town council figured it would cost upwards of $500,000, but the winning tender raises the anticipated cost to $1.16-million.
"We met with musicians and sound technicians," says Paterson. "A number of things were recommended, very strongly recommended, and so we moved ahead with those kind of things included in the build."
Paterson would like to have it open in time for summer events.
"Actually, all of the firms that bid on this knew the timeline that was put forward and all of them said the same thing that they could get it done," he says.
He would like to have it ready for Canada Day celebrations and the Hogs for Hospice event.
Aveiro Contractors in Dorchester won the bid.
