Patrons Happy To Have Library Back

Residents in Tecumseh are happy to have their library back after it was closed for nearly eight months.

"When the strike first started I thought maybe a month, two months but it went on for a while and slowly I started realizing that as a community there are certain things we take so much advantage of. I'm so happy to be back," says student Sameer Hussaini.

Hussaini says he uses both the Tecumseh and Lakeshore branches for studying and access to the internet.

"I've been using a coffee shop for the last couple of months and it was nice but that's more of a social area. This is more...people have a very productive approach to their day here," says Hussaini.

Early Thursday morning residents were browsing the shelves, accessing the internet and setting up for a long day of studying.

Senior resident Ed Arditti says he visits the library one to two times a week for new movies and books.

"One of the reasons I came here in the first place is because I needed exposure to all kinds of books and videos because I was going through an illness and when it closed for so long it really got be down, so I'm really glad it's all back to normal," says Arditti.

Thursday is the first day back for 57 library employees who were out on strike for 236 days. All 14 branches throughout the county have been reopened.
