Filip Hronek scored twice as the Saginaw Spirit beat the visiting Windsor Spitfires Saturday night 3-2.
It is the third loss in the row for the Spits, who remain in second place in the OHL West Division standings with 65 points.
Jeremy Bracco got Windsor going with a power play goal at 5:15 in the opening period, assisted by Julius Nattinen and Aaron Luchuk. The score remained 1-0 Windsor until just after the four-minute mark of the second period, when Brady Gilmour tied the score on his 18th goal of the year. Hronek's first goal of the night came later in the period and the Spirit went to the dressing room with a 2-1 lead.
Mikhail Sergachev knotted the score at two goals apiece with his fifth of the year, assisted by Cristiano DiGiacinto. However, Hronek's second goal of the night was the clincher, coming on the power play with just 11 seconds left in regulation.
Mario Culina was solid in net, turning away 39 of Saginaw's 42 shots for Windsor in the loss. Evan Cormier had 20 saves for Saginaw.
The Spitfires return to the WFCU Centre for a Sunday night game against the Hamilton Bulldogs.
