Windsor police say Walker Rd. at Ottawa St. is open again after a seven-vehicle crash.
Road conditions deteriorated in Windsor-Essex overnight Tuesday, and while police put out a plea to drivers to slow down, there were still a number of collisions across Windsor.
"The roads are terrible," a snow-plow operator who didn't want to be identified told BlackburnNews.com after coming across the pile-up at Walker Rd. and Seminole. "Just because you have a four-wheel drive, don't think you're a super-star. It is slick."
A single-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of County Rd. 22, just west of Banwell Rd. slowed traffic. Another at Lauzon Pkwy. and County Rd. 42 slowed traffic to a crawl, and the Ontario Provincial Police were called out to the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 401 at Todd Lane in LaSalle after a two-vehicle collision blocked one lane.
Environment Canada says the region could get up to 10 cm (4 inches) of snow by the noon hour before it turns into rain. That is not expected to provide drivers with any relief, since freezing rain is a possibility during the transition.
