Windsor police are investigating after three local elementary schools were broken into over night.
St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School and Our Lady of Mount Carmel in south Windsor and St. John Vianney School in east Windsor were all vandalized.
"In all three cases windows were smashed in order to gain access into the schools and in all three cases the principals' offices were pretty much trashed," says Stephen Fields, communications coordinator with the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board.
Fields says it's unclear if anything was taken.
"It's difficult to say at this point whether there was anything of value taken. It doesn't appear as though anything was it looks like it was just trashed pretty badly," says Fields.
At St. Gabriel's school a memorial bench, dedicated to a former principal who died of cancer, was destroyed and used to vandalize the principals office.
"Karen Drago was much loved throughout our entire system, a highly regarded principal and we had this bench named in her honour at this school," says Fields. "For the staff and the students here that's especially hurtful."
Anyone with information on the break-ins is asked to call the Windsor Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
