Sparky Collecting Toys In Windsor

Sparky's Toy Drive is officially underway.

The holiday toy drive collects toys and gifts for kids in the community ages newborn to 14.

Last year Sparky's Toy Drive delivered gifts to over 3000 children in Windsor-Essex. Each child received a bag of gifts with the approximate value of $80 that included toys, games, hat, scarf, gloves and "stocking stuffers".

"We anticipate this number to grow for a couple of different reasons. Recent immigrants and refugees as well as our increased advertising and assistance in advertising from other agencies," says toy drive organizer Windsor Firefighter Sean Costello.

New unwrapped toys can be dropped off at fire stations around the city as well as Canadian Tire, Costco, Devonshire Mall and Dollar Tree.

Costello says all gifts are needed and appreciated but they always have a shortfall of gifts for children ages 9-14 years old.

"We have listed age categories and gift selections specifically for those age categories on our website," says Costello.

To register for the toy drive families can attend Hotel Dieu Health Care on November 19 and 20th.
