The Windsor Police Service is investigating an assault, which was caught on video and shared online.
Constable Andrew Drouillard says it started in early Tuesday evening, along Wyandotte St. E near Pillette Rd., as a group of teens was shouting and taunting a girl trying to instigate a fight.
He says a number of suspects have been identified and officers are working to figure out what role each one played in the incident.
"[Suspects and witnesses caught on video] are receiving threats from a number of people," explains Drouillard. "We just want to remind the public to refrain from contacting individuals, and let our Youth Branch do their investigation in order to hold the people accountable."
Sergeant Wren Dosant says social media seems to be playing a bigger role in investigations of this nature, which can be both a good and a bad thing.
"In this case, the social media helped bring this to a closure very quickly," he adds. "It helped us to identify suspects and witnesses. But in a negative sense, people felt the need to take the law into their own hands, which we do not recommend whatsoever."
The video was shared on Facebook by a friend of the victim, but has since been hidden.
Police are urging youth to report incidents of bullying to a parent, teacher or guardian, even if they're just a by-stander.
