Family Services Windsor Essex County is hoping to be able to offer $100,000 to vulnerable residents still dealing with flood damage.
Executive Director Joyce Zuk says the money will go to residents who have no access to insurance or provincial disaster relief funding.
"We don't want anyone, four weeks out [from the flood] still with water in their basement," she explains. "We don't want anyone with raw sewage, we don't want perhaps a vulnerable senior or person with a disability who's afraid to reach out."
Zuk says they've heard from 10 such residents who need help -- one of which reported water in their basement as recent as Monday.
"We are concerned, not just about the physical health of folks, but their emotional health," the executive director describes. "Living with something like that is absolutely unfathomable to most of us."
Family Services is asking for donations which will then be matched, up to $50,000, by Green Shield Canada.
