Around $4.3-million is being committed to finish cycling infrastructure to complete the Windsor Loop.
"There are probably 30 elements on the list that were approved by city council. Some will be easier to undertake than others and I imagine administration will develop a schedule and start implementing those things as quickly as possible," says Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.
All of the projects for the Windsor Loop aim to create cycling infrastructure to connect all major parts of the city and improve safety for cyclists.
An additional $2.2-million will go toward a geo-technical study for a multi-use tunnel under the tracks at Dougall Ave. That work is part of the Environmental Assessment for the Central Box or "Dougall death trap" road improvements.
"It's to actually put a bike path, a multi-use bike path and pedestrian path through the train tracks, the stanchion for the train tracks," says Dilkens.
To complete the work on the bike path on Dougall an Expressway Underpass multi-use trail at Derwent Park to Twin Oaks was deferred.
