The team working to restore Windsor's Lancaster Bomber is mourning one of their own.
The Canadian Historical Aircraft Association says Wayne Richard Mayer passed away in hospice care in Mission B.C. The 60-year-old volunteer had cancer.
The association says he started working on the restoration in 2001.
There's a memorial gathering Saturday, October 8 in his honour at the Walkerville Eatery on Walker Rd. in Windsor. The event starts at 2pm and wraps up at 5pm.
