Man Charged After Police Respond To Gun Call

Charges have been laid after Windsor police responded to a report that a man was in possession of a gun during a domestic dispute.

The Windsor Police Service says on Friday around noon, officers responded to the call at an apartment building Pillette Rd. near Metcalfe St.  As a precaution, police closed streets surrounding the building and some of the apartment units were evacuated to ensure public safety.

After speaking to witnesses, police learned that a gun had not actually been seen, and the domestic dispute had taken place the night before. Residents were able to return to their units and all roads were reopened around 1:30pm.

Officers later located a 33-year-old man who was arrested without incident. A BB gun was also seized by police. The man has been charged with assault in relation to the domestic dispute.

Police say an investigation is ongoing.
