Volunteers Needed To Plan Birthday Celebrations

The City of Windsor's getting ready for what it expects to be a really big year.

It celebrates its 125th birthday along with Canada's 150th in 2017.

Mayor Drew Dilkens says they're trying to plan major events for each month, so volunteers are needed.

"Contact my office -- send an e-mail to mayoro@citywindsor.ca [by October 7]," explains the mayor. "We're looking for volunteers who want to come together, and not just give ideas, but volunteers who want to get their hands dirty and actually help execute some of these events."

Dilkens says the city plans to release a calendar for 2017 at the end of this year, detailing all of the events residents will be able to take part in.

Some of the special birthday events are expected to be announced over the next few months.
