Windsor residents are being encouraged to get out and walk a kilometre on their lunch breaks.
It's part of a new initiative from the city's Health and Wellness Committee called the Walking Wednesdays Kilometre Club.
Mayor Drew Dilkens joined employees from the city and Caesars Windsor in a walk over the noon hour today.
"In their business [at Caesars], you have a lot of people dealing at card tables and they're standing around for a period of time," which he says is similar to City of Windsor employees sitting in cubicles. "So to the extent that we can help encourage those employees to get more active is just a positive step."
With downtown's two largest employers taking part in the walk, Dilkens is hoping more businesses will get on board with encouraging their employees to get exercise during the day.
