The two sides in the Essex County Library strike are back at the bargaining table.
Talks are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The two sides were expected to meet with a mediator on Thursday, but Essex County Library Board chair Richard Meloche says after meeting with the mediator last Thursday, work began to return to talks. The dates were nailed down Monday.
Talks have been suspended since August 8, the last time CUPE Local 2974 and the library board met.
The library board says it wants to modernize its sick day policy, but the union has accused the board of bad faith bargaining and insists sick time is a non-issue.
A recent poll, paid for by CUPE 2974, indicated two-thirds of respondents believe Essex County mayors are doing a poor job handling the strike. The union has repeatedly called on them to pressure the board to return to the bargaining table.
The strike started June 25.
