Ontario Labour Force Supports Library Workers

Labour groups across the province are joining Essex County library workers on the picket line.

Over 100 people from as far away as Sault St. Marie rallied at the Leamington branch of the library to show solidarity with the employees who have been on the picket line for 68 days.

President of the Ontario Federation of Labour Chris Buckley says they joined the picket line today because they need to stand up for good jobs due to a troubling trend across the province.

"In the last decade Ontario has turned into a province where the only work you can find is precarious in nature, they're temporary jobs and that's not the Ontario we want," says Buckley.

Following the rally at the library the members made their way down the street to town hall make their presence known to Leamington Mayor John Paterson. Paterson is not on the library board but the union is encouraging all mayors to urge the library board to do something to end the strike.
