Windsor Hosts National Archery Competition

Around 200 archers will be descending on the city this weekend for the 2016 Canadian National 3D Archery Championships.

The top archers from across Canada, including around 35 local archers, will shoot at 3D targets that mimic wildlife. There will courses set up at three venues Malden Park, the Windsor Sportsmen's Club and the River Canard Valley Conservation Area in Amherstburg.

"They all shoot at all three locations, at the end of it they will have shot 80 targets to get a final score and that's how they medal," says local host chair Robert Beneteau.

Beneteau says the idea to host the event came from the Ontario Summer Games held in Windsor two year ago.

"They were very enthusiastic about it because of the success we had at the venue for archery at the Ontario Summer Games so they said let's do this," says Beneteau.

Spectators are invited to come out and watch the competition on Monday from 10am to 2pm at Malden Park.
