First Ever Hogs for Hospice

The first annual Hogs for Hospice is getting a huge response from people in the community and across the country.

"We've been at every motorcycle event for the last year promoting this event. We've had such a great response and I think we're going to surprise ourselves. It's been a great experience and we're glad to be doing something for our community," says organizer Donny Pacheco.

Over 15,000 motorcycles are expected to roll in over the three-day event, with over 1,000 motorcycle riders registered to take part in the tour of Essex County Saturday. In addition to the ride over 50 motorcycle vendors will be set up at Seacliff Park in Leamington throughout the weekend.

On Friday night the Uptown Leamington BIA is hosting a block party and night market with a free concert by KISS tribute band Destroyer. See the Hogs for Hospice website for a full list of road closures.

In addition to the motorcycle ride, Saturday over 5000 people are expected to attend the Bret Michaels concert in Seacliff Park. All proceeds from the concert and the ride will go to the Erie Shores Hospice and Leamington District Memorial Hospital Foundation.

"Our goal is just to have a good time and get people welcome to our area so we can have a future event for next year," says Pacheco. He's asking motorists to be safe on the roads and welcome people to the region.

A map of the ride is available on the Hogs for Hospice website. A full list of events is also posted on the website.
