Domestic Dispute Started Kidnapping, Attempted Murder

Police in Windsor say a kidnapping and attempted murder started with a domestic dispute Tuesday night.

Detectives from the Major Crime Branch are canvassing the 3700-block of Montcalm St. for witnesses after a man kidnapped a woman and drove her out of the city.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Windsor Police Major Crime Branch at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830 or Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 (TIPS). Information can also be submitted online and on Facebook.

Police say the woman was able to escape from the vehicle she was riding in when it pulled off Hwy. 401 near Ingersoll. The Ontario Provincial Police arrested the suspect soon after at a truck stop in Woodstock.

Police have also released the suspect's name. They say 42-year-old Thomas Manuel faces a list of charges including kidnapping, choking, forcible confinement and attempted murder.
