A 54-year-old LaSalle woman is being charged after supposedly stealing $230,000 from Windsor's airport while working there over the last three years.
Windsor Mayor and Vice Chair of the Windsor International Airport's Board of Directors Drew Dilkens says they found out about the theft in February and immediately fired the employee.
Price Waterhouse Coopers was then hired to find out exactly how much money had been stolen, how it was taken, and over how much time.
Windsor police say the accused turned herself in last week and will appear in court July 26 to answer to theft charges.
According to Dilkens, the airport has since hired more part-time staff to fill the gaps in its finance department, and added new roles to oversee the handling of money.
The airport's expected to recover 100% of the money through insurance.
