Officers Carry 'Flame Of Hope' For Special Olympics

Ontario Provincial Police officers are taking part in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics in Essex County Wednesday.

It gets underway at 8am in Tecumseh at Lakewood Park and ends at Tecumseh Rd. E and Manning Rd.

It picks up again in Lakeshore at 9am at Belle River District High School and ends at Tetrault's Valumart on Notre Dame St.

At 10am, the run continues in Leamington at the Big Tomato at the corner of Talbot St. W and Fox St., ending at Cardinal Carter High School, before picking up again in Kingsville at 11am. There, it goes from Lakeside Park to Kingsville Public School.

The run also makes stops in Essex, Amherstburg and LaSalle before wrapping up in Windsor at the Civic Terrance downtown.

The Torch Run has become one of the most important fundraising activities for Special Olympic programs in the world. In 2014, it raised more than $50-million.
