A slow, silent procession of cyclists will take to Windsor streets tonight to remember those who have lost their lives while cycling.
The Ride of Silence starts at 6:45pm in the parking lot of Willistead Restaurant on Wyandotte St. E.
Two black hearses will accompany the cyclists, a visual reminder of the risks cyclists continue to take on Canadian roads. Those who have been involved in collisions will also wear red armbands.
City Councillor Chris Holt says pedestrians are also at risk on many streets.
"Whether it's motorist behavior. Whether it's the physical design of our roadways, that don't take their needs into account," he says.
Holt will read a poem kicking off the ride.
There's also a Ride of Silence in at the University of Guelph's campus in Ridgetown in Chatham-Kent tonight.
