The Ontario Provincial Police are investigating an alleged threat made at Belle River District High School in Lakeshore.
Principal Larry Ash isn't saying a lot about the threat since it's an active police investigation, but says it was not made on social media. He says it was left on the school property and was found by a staff member.
He won't say what the nature of the threat was, but confirms it cited tomorrow, Friday, May 13.
Superintendent at the Greater Essex County District School Board Vicky Houston says the threat was found earlier in the week and the OPP were notified immediately.
Parents found out about the threat last night through an automated phone call from the school, and there has been a lot of talk about it on Facebook and Twitter. Houston says some parents have called both the board office and the school with their concerns.
The school will be open tomorrow with a police presence.
Constable Stephanie Moniz says officers have identified those responsible for the threat and continue to investigate.
"We are working closely with school officials to address incidents like these on a case by case basis, and follow the evidence where it takes us, and lay charges if appropriate," says Moniz in an email.
Earlier this month, Windsor police investigated after a poem that was misinterpreted as threatening was posted on the social media app, Whisper.
