CBSA Seize Drugs & Guns

The Canadian Border Service Agency seized two guns, drugs, fraudulent licenses and credit cards from people trying to cross into Canada at the Ambassador Bridge and Windsor-Detroit Tunnel in March.

On March 11, a vehicle was referred to secondary inspection after declaring pepper spray at the Ambassador Bridge. The officers detected an "extremely strong odour" of marijuana coming from the two Michigan residents. They found a plastic bag in the passenger's purse as well as a jar under the seat containing marijuana totalling approximately 76g. The travellers were turned over the the Windsor Police Service.

On the same day three foreign nationals attempted to enter into Canada at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel and were arrested when over 100 credit cards and fraudulent licenses were discovered upon inspection of their vehicle.

On March 12 officers at the Ambassador Bridge discovered a bottle of clear liquid that tested positive for suspected amphetamines upon inspection of a vehicle. Two foreign nationals were denied entry into Canada.

On March 25 a New Jersey man was denied entry into Canada after officers discovered 52 capsules of suspected amphetamines in his vehicle. It was determined the man already has a June 2016 court date for previous drug charges and was directed back to the US.

On March 31 a 19-year-old Windsor Woman was travelling on the Tunnel Bus and was referred for examination after photos and text messages indicated the female may be involved in the trafficking of narcotics. She admitted to trafficking in an interview and submitted to a personal search. The search determined the woman was attempting to smuggle 40 pills internally. The woman was turned over the the RCMP.
