The largest high school sporting event in Canada is descending on Windsor for the first time this summer. The 2016 Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Track and Field Championships will bring 2,400 athletes from 536 schools to compete in 108 events. Co-organizer Andy Hahn says some athletes from this championship go on to bigger things. "You're going to see the best athletes. There's a lot of hype this year with it being the Olympics," Hahn says. "We're hoping to win five medals this year at the Olympics from Canada, four potential medalists are from OFSAA track and field." The event takes place June 2-4 at the University of Windsor's Alumni Field. Weekend passes cost $20 or it's $10 for the day. Co-convenor Craig Cavanagh says the Friday is packed with 40 back-to-back finals. "The Friday afternoon is probably the best four or five hours of track and field in the country because it's literally just final, after final, after final," he says. "Steeplechase, to the 110m hurdles, to the 400s, to the 100s, to the 1500s and the relays."
