The City of Windsor and St. Clair College have partnered to improve the landscape surrounding the historic Mackenzie Hall in Olde Sandwich Town.
The Mackenzie Hall landscape scholarship will give one horticultural student the opportunity to maintain the property during the summer season.
"We've never had the resources to put that really fine finesse in so this is about bringing colour back, this is about bringing beds back, and it is a challenging location as it is because it is quite shaded," says City of Windsor's Executive Director of Parks Phil Roberts. "To have somebody to spend that kind of detail which our department doesn't have right now and obviously to give the experience to a St. Clair horticultural student is going to be meaningful for them and I would suspect meaningful for us in the long term."

The scholarship was initiated by the Friends of the Court group and is sponsored by three community groups including The Keg Steakhouse & Bar. The student will be paid $5000 as part of the scholarship.
"Everything we do at St. Clair College is really about emphasizing experiential learning and practical learning, so this gives a student a chance each and every year to do that," says Patty France, president of St. Clair College.
