UPDATE: Firefighters Battle Two Fires In Windsor

Two separate fires kept Windsor firefighters busy late in the day on Saturday.

The Windsor Fire and Rescue Service says on Saturday around 5pm, firefighters were called to the first fire at a house located at 2333 Alexis Rd. Fire officials say the blaze originated in the basement and was accidentally caused while the homeowner was working on a motorcycle.

One person is displaced, but no one was injured in the fire. Damage is pegged at around $50,000.

The second fire occurred around 6:15pm at the Royal Windsor Terrace apartment building at 380 Pelissier St.

The fire originated in a fourth floor apartment and was caused by unattended cooking, fire officials say.

Firefighters had to work to remove smoke from the fourth and fifth floors of the building. All residents were able to return to their apartments, with the exception of the person living in the apartment where the fire originated.

Damage from the apartment fire is estimated at around $60,000. No one was injured in the blaze.
