Camping Allowed For Woofaroo Vendors

If vendors want to camp at this year's Woofaroo Festival, that's okay with Amherstburg's town council.

Council voted to allow it on a trial basis, and if it goes well this year, Mayor Aldo DiCarlo says council will consider opening it up to festival attendees too.

There will be some rules to follow.

"The fire chief made it clear that open fires are not allowed," says DiCarlo. "But, stuff like propane heaters obviously can be used. Alcohol on public property would not be okay."

And there's a backup plan if it rains.

"Should there be heavy rain; the ground is too damp, we'll move them to the asphalt parking lot," says DiCarlo.

The festival takes place August 13 and 14 at the Libro Complex in Amherstburg.

Organizers say 12,000 people came out to last year's event, and they anticipate 15,000 this year.
