The Windsor Spitfires are ready to face the Kitchener Rangers in the first round of the OHL playoffs.
Game one kicks off tonight in Kitchener.
"We expect them to obviously come out hard having home ice advantage but we like where our game is at right now and I think our guys are excited," says Assistant Coach Jared Smith.
The Spitfires won their last three regular season games, including a 6-4 win over Kitchener.
"I think that last win was pretty key for our confidence going into the series. Obviously we've played them before and beat them before but that last game we proved we can beat them if we just stick to our system," says right winger Christian Fischer.
The Windsor Spitfires did not make the playoffs last year. In fact the organization has not won a playoff game since the 2010-2011 season. The team is hopeful they can break that streak this series.
"We've matched up pretty well with them so far this year. They're a dangerous team and I think our guys are aware of that and have been dialed in and we've been pretty good at limiting their chances," says Smith.
Game two is set for Saturday in Kitchener. The teams come the WFCU Centre for Game 3 on Monday March 28. The winner of the best of seven series will advance to the second round of the playoffs.
