OPP Nearly Hit On Side Of Road

OPP officers along Hwy. 3 dealing with alleged stunt drivers on the side of the road nearly got hit by a passing vehicle.

Lakeshore OPP cruisers were conducting regular radar enforcement along the highway near Ellis Rd. on Friday.

Two vehicles were spotted travelling much faster than the posted limit, police say.

The first one, a maroon Chevrolet, was clocked going 63 km/h above the limit. The 36-year-old Windsor driver was charged with stunt driving and driving while suspended.

The second vehicle, a black Chrysler, was seen travelling 57 over the limit. A 17-year-old Leamington man has been charged with stunt driving.

Both vehicles in this case were impounded for seven days.

While officers had these two stopped in fully marked cruisers alongside a tow truck, a gold Toyota nearly struck one of the OPP vehicles.

Police stopped the driver and charged a 49-year-old Amherstburg man with driving without a license, failing to move over for emergency vehicles and driving a vehicle without a valid permit.
