Man Rescued From Detroit River

A quick-thinking group of citizens may have saved a man's life after he was spotted in the frigid waters of the Detroit River.

Windsor police say they were called to the riverfront Saturday at around 5pm for a marine emergency just west of Ouellette Ave.

When officers arrived a crowd was gathered around man soaking wet on a park bench.

Police say two people pulled a man from the river after he appeared in distress. It's unclear how he ended up in the water.

Once he was out these citizens used their clothing to keep him warm. He was quickly placed into the warm police cruiser until fire and EMS crews arrived.

The male was taken to hospital.

Windsor police are thanking those who helped rescue the man from the Detroit River.
