Leamington Workers Ratify Contract

Outdoor workers and recreational staff at the Town of Leamington have ratified a new three year agreement.

The agreement includes a 1% wage increase in the first two years of the contract and a 1.5% increase in the last year.

"In addition there was a one-time recognition pay of $500 per person to be paid in 2016, in recognition of the unions members willingness to accept 0% increases over the past two years due to the Heinz closure announcement," says Leamington CAO Peter Neufeld.

Neufeld says this round of negotiations was very positive.

"We think that we have a strong relationship with the union and I think that in any negotiations there's give and take."

The new contract expires December 31, 2018.
