No Chickens Hurt In Barn Fire

About 150 chickens made it out alive after a small barn fire in Amherstburg on Monday night.

However, the Amherstburg Fire Department says the fire did about $3,000 in damage to the barn in the 8400-block of Howard Ave. Investigators point to electric coil wrapped around water pipes to prevent freezing as the cause of the fire.

Firefighters from Station 3 responded to the blaze around 5pm on Monday. Crews left the scene about 40 minutes later.

No one, livestock or otherwise, were injured in the fire.
