Windsor City Council supports in principle the creation of a levy to help fund the new hospital system-including a new acute care facility on County Rd. 42.
Hospital CEO David Musyj says this sends a clear message to the province that they are ready to move on to the next stage of the project.
"We're looking at late winter, early spring to move this project forward to stage two so I'm hopeful over the next couple of months those discussions take place between the city and the county," says Musyj.
Council Council passed a similar motion last week.
The County and City will now negotiate how the approximately $200-million municipal portion of the $2-billion project will be split through the levy.
"This is a game changer for the relationship between the city and the county to move this project forward and it's been a different flavour and a different discussion on this project all the way along including and not limited to when we announced the whole plan, they really rallied around it together," says Musyj.
