Police say DNA evidence has led to sexual assault and break and enter charges for a 19-year-old Windsor man.
Officers with the Windsor Police Service investigated a break and enter which happened at a home in the 2200-block of Curry Ave. around 4:10am on November 28. Police say a man took off from the house after waking the homeowner, but not before stealing her 2006 Mazda 5 minivan.
Forensic experts found DNA evidence in the home which was sent off to a lab in Toronto for analysis. Through the analysis, police determined an indecent act was committed inside the home while the homeowner was sleeping.
Today, police report getting a "hit" off the National DNA Data Bank and a suspect was arrested within an hour of getting the information.
The minivan, which is described as blue-green in colour with an Ontario licence plate reading BNMH 137, has not been found and neither has the homeowner's purse.
