Father Charged Over Son's Injuries

Police are charging a 25-year-old Windsor man for allegedly assaulting his 4-year-old son.

Officers report being called to an unnamed elementary school in Windsor around 11am yesterday to investigate a report of child abuse. Police say staff at the school saw injuries to the boy, prompting calls to the Windsor Police Service and the Children's Aid Society.

The child had welts and bruises on his back, right arm and wrist as well as his stomach according to officers attending the scene. Police say the injuries are consistent with being struck with a wire cord.

The father was arrested without incident at his home. He is charged with assault with a weapon.
