Fire crews attended the scene at 520 Church St. just before 1pm Monday.
After the fire was out, officials completed a search of the interior of the home. The Windsor Fire Service twitter account claims the blaze could've originated in the kitchen.
Damages are estimated at $50,000.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
