County Service Providers Unite

Essex County residents will soon be able to attend one central location to access some social services.

The Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society, Ontario Works and the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit will be offering their services from a five-storey office building at 33 Princess St. in Leamington. The Children's Aid Society will move into the new space at the end of January with the remainder of the services following by around April.

"It really is quite an exciting endeavor. One that will bring synergies between the service providers and create a better space for the treatment of our families and the children that we work with," says Bill Bevan CEO of the Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society. He says there will also be cost savings as the agencies will share things like reception and security staff. Bevan says they are in talks with at least 10 other local services who are considering locating at what will be called Central 33. The Health Unit will consolidate their offices on Talbot Street and at the Essex Civic Centre to the new location in Leamington.
