New MPs Adjust To New Job

One of Windsor-Essex's new members of parliament admits it's a lot to learn in a short period, but Tracey Ramsey's excited to get to work on Parliament Hill.

The Essex MP, along with fellow rookie Windsor-Tecumseh MP Cheryl Hardcastle, took part in orientation on Parliament Hill for new members last week. Both met with their liaison and received an iPad full of information new MPs need to hit the ground running.

Ramsey says her top priority is to get her constituency office open. She hopes to open the doors December 1.

Her second priority is to bring attention to the region's dismal employment record.

"We have new ministers that have been assigned. One of them is employment, so it's incredibly important to make that connection," she says. "(I'll) let that minister know what's happening down here and that we're in desperate need of economic development that will provide jobs."

Ramsey beat Conservative incumbent Jeff Watson in last month's federal election.
