The 56-year-old was in court yesterday.
Although he plead guilty, he won't do any jail time as he was given a conditional discharge.
Along with his probation, Voakes is prohibited from using any kind of weapon for the next five years.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
