Five weeks after two popular restaurants in downtown Windsor were shut down, a co-owner at Chanoso's and South Detroit says they're ready to reopen.
Seth Perera says South Detroit reopened last Friday, and Chanoso's will open its doors after Hallowe'en.
He says many of the staff will also return.
"Obviously, we weren't functioning, and no revenue was coming in the door," Perera says. "People have bills to pay and things to do so, we can appreciate if some of them have moved on to other locations."
The two spots were closed in mid-September after a health inspector found deficiencies with the aging building and signs of cockroaches.
Perera says they've completed the renovations that included removing old wood and resealing floors.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit confirms the restaurants have received a clean bill of health.
