Ministry Moving Slow On Parkway Concerns

LaSalle Mayor Ken Antaya is calling for more respect from the Ministry of Transportation as the town's frustrations with Herb Gray Parkway construction go unanswered.

Antaya says council has yet to get a response from the ministry after sending a letter nearly three months ago outlining concerns the project could be leading to flooding problems in the town.

"The big deal [is] in relation to storm drainage in the Heritage Estates and Oliver Farm areas, I mean that's not something we're going to let go," says Antaya. "We recognize it's not short-term solution. It's going to be a long-term solution, but let's get on with it."

However, Antaya tells BlackburnNews.com administration has had meetings with the ministry since sending the letter yet there hasn't been an official response to council.

"I think that we need to get on with this because the residents out there have legitimate concerns and residents out there deserve our support and residents out there deserve the attention of the ministry," says Antaya.

Signage along parkway affected roads is another issue Antaya feels needs to be addressed.
