Cross country and soccer may over, but other extracurricular activities will stop next week as the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario ramps up job action. Not everything will be cancelled though. ETFO has informed the public board that Remembrance Day activities and breakfast programs will continue running. Both sides have been negotiating for months and talks are now at a standstill. Greater Essex County District School Board spokesperson Scott Scantlebury says if a deal isn't reached soon, the sanctions will start Wednesday. "There is some gray area as to what exactly defines an extracurricular activity," he says. "We can assume, I think, that sports, and plays, and some clubs will fall under these sanctions. Bargaining is split into two sections -- local and provincial. Local bargaining is already underway and can't be finalized until ETFO inks a deal. Scantlebury wouldn't comment on how local talks are going, only to say the discussions are still happening.
